Boy, did we have an exiting weekend.
As my regular readers know, my youngest and her friend participated in a national youth singing competition on Saturday, that was broadcast live on television.
The day started early with a sound check and hair-curling. I had bought a new cone shaped curling iron for the occasion (and for her confirmation too) and tried it out the day before. I’m not bad at curling hair, but it does take time on thick long hair! A full hour or so.
Then it was time for light makeup and warm-ups. And a lot of waiting. My girl and her friend were the second last act, nr. 29 of 30. The wait was a bit nerve wracking for them, but once on stage, they were calm and poised. Their performance was flawless, and they were very well received. They did not place among the top three though.
Here are some shots from the “green room”, reveling the dream dress that some have been waiting to see.

Some of the accompanying moms brought their knitting:

They were without a doubt the one of the best dressed acts. Note the sneakers on the second photo. My daughter not only sang, but played the piano as well. The venue only offered an electric piano and the pedals on those are really small and hard to feel in heels. So she wanted flat soft shoes, and decided to wear her new sneakers. Why she wore the woolen socks too, I do not know.
You can watch them here. Update: There is still a bit of trouble with the webcast. The sound starts at 141 minutes but the image at 236 minutes…
On Sunday, the Vík Cheerleaders with my daughter as captain, cheered the local basketball teams last home game this season. Two of our “veteran” cheerleaders, that have moved away, were visiting and they joined in. We also regained a very skilled member that day, and one extra guest too, so the half time performance was extra special.
Something else entirely:
